Świr or romantic in the modern world

Marek Koterski's film can undoubtedly be considered a masterpiece of Polish cinematography. Not only because of the great acting, great editing and subtlety of the message, but also because of the poetics visible in every cage of this wonderful work.

Adaś Miauczyński is a broken man, crushed by the shards of reality that torments him. He is a romantic suffering from the pain of existence, he loves and suffers for millions like Konrad from the third part of Dziady by Adam Mickiewicz. He dreams about long journeys, he is "Crimean Sonnets" - "Akerman Steppes". Adaś is the embodiment of the literary characters of the Polish Romantic era. We find the analogy to Adam Mickiewicz's drama mainly in the form of the main character - the scar on the forehead, the desire to take polemics with the creator, suicidal thoughts, the name (Adam). In addition to the features clearly showing the figure of Konrad Mickiewicz, Miauczyński also has Gustaw's personality characteristics from IV. "Forefathers". In dream fantasies, she invokes the name of the old beloved, the only one, the first, the perfect one. When he finds the ideal of love, he states that "there is virtually no time or place for a woman living in her life". For him, love is the absolute that he dreams about and dreams about, but he can not get it, because then the hero would lose his sense of identity. The atrium visible in the rest scene emphasizes the loneliness of the hero's thoughts. Miauczyński's life is a constant journey, pursuing ideals that can not be achieved.

Because of her otherness, she moves away from them. It does not fit into the era in which it came to exist. He is an outstanding individual, an individualist, he wants to create something great, but the willingness to live in another world deprives him of such a possibility. Misunderstood, even by his mother, he finds the peace of the soul in the world of poetry. He wants to die, roll to the bottom of a shallow swamp of intellectual downturn, take a break from existence in a world irritating and tormenting him mentally. Disappointment with worldly life confirms him in the belief that living is not worth it. noob homepage (Michał Koterski) is a life loser, his wife is a loose butterfly. He is lonely, he feels alienated from the rest of society, although he is good with it, he does not want change. He locked himself in a tight cocoon of mental barriers, which at some point becomes impossible to overcome. "Świra's Day" really tells a story about ourselves. It presents the world in which we live every day. Adas, despite his dissimilarity, struggles with the same existential problems as every modern man. He is the soul of a romantic imprisoned in the body of a modern man. The world presented in Koterski's tragicomedy is a hyperbole of our life, through which the director makes us aware of the grotesque, patterns and absurdities that rule the world. It is not Miauczyński who is a freak, but the world that surrounds him. Because of their otherness (obsession to number each aspect of life, perfectionism), openness to transcendental values is perceived as a madman in society, whereas "normal" people are representatives of the homo sapiens species expressing approval for the consumer lifestyle of modern, selfish people, for whom it is clearly more important have than to be. The protagonist is constantly tormented by the following questions: Why, when you are young, when you are "stupid" decide about important things? Will I find peace and harmony in my life? He wants to escape, he is looking for new wings, thanks to which he could get over the darkness of gray reality, routine. Adaś is finally a patriot - he listens to Chopin's works, he reads Mickiewicz's works, he is interested in political life, which he "does not have any influence on". He is aware of his helplessness in a world dominated by all possible pathologies of power.

The film emphatically lined with a large dose of biting irony, spiced with a large handful of vulgarity, shows the truth about ourselves. Perhaps this is why, after the screening is over, people stay in their places for a while, wondering if someone has accidentally pointed them in their posed nose. The brutal truth touches us all.

Everyone is a "freak" in their own individual way. And that is precisely why it constantly strives for an impossible fulfillment ...
